Poutasi picked to lead Te Whatu Ora

Former director general of health Dame Karen Poutasi has been appointed to chair the board of Te Whatu Ora.
She has been on the board since its inception and replaces Rob Campbell, who was sacked for calling out the National Party’s Three Waters policy as a thin disguise for dog-whistling on co-governance.
Health Minister Ayesha Verrall says Dame Karen is a medically trained doctor with significant governance and leadership experience in the public health and education sectors.
She says the new role is vital for continuing to lead the Government’s reforms to make sure quality health services are delivered for every New Zealander.
Dr Verrall thanked Naomi Ferguson for stepping in as interim chair while a permanent appointment was made.
