Māori living with mental health or addiction have been sharing their experiences with the health system at a national hui in Wellington this week.
Te Aka Whai Ora lived experience national director Egan Bidios says it’s a chance for tangata whaiora to contribute to the development of services that support everyone whatever experience they bring to the table.
“I’m a big believer in don’t rank people for their experiences, thank people for their experiences. I’m not a big believer in saying my experience is any worse than yours. Ultimately your walk is your walk, my walk is my walk and we can respect each other’s walk,” he says.
