Sir Haare Williams leads Papakura art show

Download AudioThe impact of the Land Wars on Papakura and the wider region are being addressed in an exhibition opening in the township tomorrow.
Muru features work by Sir Haare Williams, his nephew Charles WIlliams, Janine Williams and Nigel Borrell.
There’s also a mural painted by the four being unveiled at the Papakura Library.
Borrell says it was a special opportunity to work alongside Sir Haare, whose style is very much on view.
“We’ve actually taken our lead from his style so he has a spray paint technique where he uses stencils and colour in really dramatic wa¥s so the entire mural is being done in a tribute to his style and keep his style very promnent withn the mural,” he says.
The mural will be revealed 10:00 AM at Sir Edmund Hillary Library followed by the exhibition opening at 11:00 AM at the Papakura Art Gallery.
