Rauhina Cooper’s bilingual pukapuka Tōku Whānau Rerehua – My Beautiful Family was published in time for this week’s Schools Pride Week.
It tells the story of shy Huia, who does a class presentation on her whanau – her and her two mums.
Cooper says she wanted to say mum, dad and the kids isn’t the only normal whānau, as whānau are the people around you that love you.
Rauhina Cooper hopes with the new generations, prejudices against takatāpui will vanish.
