Player depth driving Warriors surge
With the Warriors playing at home for the first time this season on Sunday, it’s a good chance for fans to see the changes coach Andrew Webster is bringing to the team’s approach.
Commentator Glen Larmer says even with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak sidelined there is real depth on the wings with Marcelo Montoya and Edward Kosi.
“We’ve not missed a beat with those guys on the wing have they? Montoya’s kick returns have been very strong, he seems to have got more aggressive with his ball running and it’s exciting and maybe we’re getting, because of this depth, Kosi has come on quite nicely in the last two years, maybe Montoya is thinking ‘I’m not an automatic selection in this team any more because I’ve got a guy snapping at my heels, maybe I need to start pulling finger a bit more,’ and maybe that’s driving him,” he says.
Glen Larmer says it’s extraordinary two players, Te Maire Martin and Taine Tuaupiki, both come from the small mining town of Taharoa on the Waikato coast.
