Broadcast change in safe hands says PM
The Prime Minister also expressed confidence in Broadcasting Minister Willie Jackson’s ability to complete the Government’s broadcasting agenda.
Chris Hipkins promoted Mr Jackson to the front bench in yesterday’s cabinet reshuffle, despite speculation the proposed merger of TVNZ and Radio New Zealand could be dropped as the Government focuses on so called bread and butter issues.
He says the former broadcaster and talkback host is the right person for the job.
“I’m absolutely confident Willie understands the portfolio very well, he’s got extensive relationships and a really good knowledge of the broadcasting and media portfolios and that when we make a decision I’m absolutely confident Willie will implement it,” Mr Hipkins says.
