Good planning key to Te Mātāwai pūtea

Māori language promotion and support entity Te Mātāwai, is urging people to act early so they don’t miss out on funding.
Co-chair Bernie O’Donnell says it’s looking for well thought-out te reo development plans with realistic budgets.
Anyone wanting to run a programme must be registered as a provider with Te Mātāwai – and while that part is easy – it’s vital.
“Not registering in time means you won’t be able to apply for funding. You have to register before January 31 – you’ve got a bit of time this time. I think previously it was about a month – now we’ve got a little bit more time, to allow whanau to be able to register,” he says.
Mr O’Donnell says the next most important thing is to have a comprehensive te reo plan prepared.
