Labour conference day to shine for new president
Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is counting on new Labour Party president Jill Day to bring new focus and energy to the party.
Wellington’s first Māori deputy mayor takes up the role at the party’s annual conference in his electorate over the weekend.
She has met with a number of MPs and ministers in recent weeks.
“I’ve had the chance to have a quick chat with her. I’m looking forward to the energy and focus she will bring. She of course has whakapapa Maori and I understand she played a great role wither leadership at the Wellington City Council so looking forward to seeing what energy she will bring and what vision she will bring for the kaupapa,” Mr Henare says.
