Mahuta summit with Auckland mayor

Local Government Minister Nanaia Muhata is confident that she can have a good working relationship with Auckland mayor Wayne Brown.
The two met yesterday and discussed issues including housing, transport, Ports of Auckland and her water infrastructure reform.
The new mayor has been setting out his agenda, including moving more decision-making to council committees and local boards.
“If it is the intention of Mayor Brown to strengthen and devolve greater responsibility to local boards he can do that under current settings. I think one of the things he is also mindful of is building a team so all these conversations in my mind for the council are opportunities in front of them,” Ms Mahuta says.
She says if Mayor Brown wants to achieve his agenda he will have to work with people.
