Do something for taiao Conservation Week call

A regional co-ordinator for Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Tūroa says it’s a chance for people to get out and do something for nature.
The Department of Conservation has been hosting a number of Conservation Week events aimed at getting whanau involved with their local environmental groups.
It’s also running a social media campaign encouraging people to collect rubbish as a way to protect the taiao.
Tash Kingsford says it’s a chance for people to get up and outside after two years of lockdowns.
“Last year it was all about taking a moment for nature. I think at the time the majority of the country was in lockdown so we were encouraging people to get out and experience nature for their well being. This year we are taking it a step further and saying how can we take some action to benefit nature,” she says.
Conservation Week ends September 11.
