Rurawhe bringing tikanga Māori into House

The Māori Party is looking forward to a more Māori feel in the House with Adrian Rurawhe as Speaker.
Co-leader Rawiri Waititi says the party was proud to give its two votes towards his election.
He says he has huge integrity and mana.
“He comes from a pedigree, a whakapapa that is one of sacredness through T W Ratana. It’s also one of being very humble in the way he does the mahi. We are looking forward to working alongside Adrian a lot closer as Speaker of the House. He brings dignity, humility but also our tikanga Maori in the House and infuses it with the current standing orders
Mr Waititi says with Dame Cindy Kiro as Governor General it now means Maori hold two of the highest constitutional positions in the country.
