Spaces open for Māori in film

Māori screen guild Ngā Aho Whakaari has found many Māori dropped out of the industry during the pandemic.
Executive director Lanita Ririnui says work has ramped up again since the borders reopened, with more than 30 film and television productions on the go.
She says there aren’t enough Māori working in the film industry, and now could be the time for a career change.
“People deciding on what they want to do and whether they want to be part of making the magic of storytelling that will be out here and internationally, it’s something people should really think about. It’s the opportunity to change your life,” Ms Ririnui says.
