Violence programme under-spend fixed
The Minister for Children says no one responsible for failing to implement sexual violence services is still working for Oranga Tamariki.
The failure was revealed in an under-spend of $40 million on the agency’s books.
Kelvin Davis says it’s a problem he inherited when he became minister.
“There was a report into how poorly managed that particular project was. Oranga Tamariki has basically stepped in and fixed it. When a mistake is made it just needs to be sorted out and fixed. Then we have to make sure the money that is there for sexual violence programmes or whatever the money is for is spent on the purpose it was obtained,” he says
Mr Davis says there is still $11 million unspent that was earmarked for the next financial year.
