Pae Oranga ka pai for rural health

The Greens’ health spokesperson hopes the establishment of the Maori Health Authority and Health NZ from July 1 will mark a new start for rural health.
Tairawhiti-based Elizabeth Kerekere says the needs of rural Maori communities have been forgotten as health services were centralised.
“And we need a complete rethink and I am putting everything on Pae Ora (Act) delivering what is promised, what is hoped for and that is going to have a massive impact on rural people and we have to hold the Government to account, this is what you said you’d do, show us, do it,” she says.
