Reti goes rural for Pae Ora debate

National Party health spokesperson Shane Reti is looking for some last minute changes to the Pae Ora Bill reforming the health sector.
With parliament in committee on the bill tomorrow, he’s putting up a supplementary order paper focusing on rural health.
“Rural health is missing from the Pae Ora Bill. It’s invisible yet we are such a rural country, 600,000 people out in rural communities with special need, particularly Maori, with special needs of rurality that is not even addressed in this Bill,” Dr Reti says.
He will also propose an older people’s health strategy as older people are invisible in the Bill despite superannuation and care of the elderly being major long term fiscal concerns..
