Data broker could unlock ministry data for Māori – Reti
National’s Health spokesperson Shane Reti says an internationally-accepted trusted broker system could be the solution to the stand-off between the Health Ministry and whānau ora providers over the release of health data needed for effective targeting of Māori vaccination campaigns.
He says he saw such health information exchange in operation in the United States.
Patent information goes to the exchange which removes any data not needed for the job at hand.
“So there must be a way to skin this cat. All I am hearing is chest beating on both sides of this dilemma,” he says.
Dr Reti says an information exchange would avoid more expensive court action.
