Delay for new film on Tūhoe raids

An action drama based on the Tūhoe raids has had to delay its New Zealand premiere due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 30-minute film – directed by Te Arepa Kahi and starring Cliff Curtis and Tame Iti as himself – was initially scheduled for nationwide general release on Thursday 3 February.
It’s been made in response to the police raids on the homes of Tūhoe people in Rūātoki in the Bay of Plenty some 14 years ago.
Among the many arrested under suspicion of domestic terrorism was Iti.
The film – supported by the New Zealand Film Commission and Te Māngai Pāho – also stars Manu Bennett, Simone Kessell and Jay Ryan.
