It may be Advance Indigenous Fair, but that's not a sentiment the Australian Indigenous Rugby League team feel is applied to them.

So the ocker anthem won't be played at this weekend's game with Māori All-Stars, and the Maori team has agreed to drop God of Nations in sympathy.

Māori Rugby chair John Devonshire says there will still be their challenge and the haka in response.

He says it's a source of great pride to wear an indigenous Māori jersey.

"Very proud moment because it's heritage, it's people. It's one thing to play for your country but it's another to play for your people," he says.

A new haka has been composed for the Māori NRL All-Stars.
