Maraea Rakuraku is this year’s Tau Mai e Kapiti Writer in Residence.

The Tuhoe and Ngati Kahungunu poet, story-teller and playwright will spend the next two months on Kapiti Island writing a film script on Kapiti Island.

She says the initial idea for the script came to her during a writer’s retreat on the island four years ago.

Ms Rakuraku also works for Radio New Zealand’s Maori programmes.
