Taranaki Maunga Board Appointed to Uphold Legal Personhood and Māori Values

Liana Poutu has been appointed chair of Te Tōpuni Kōkōrangi, the new board representing Taranaki Maunga as a legal person. The board will guide conservation efforts and uphold Māori interests under the Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Act.

A new statutory board, Te Tōpuni Kōkōrangi, has been appointed to act as the human face and voice of Te Kāhui Tupua, the newly recognised legal personhood of Taranaki Maunga and its surrounding peaks.
