Japan residency offers new colours for artist
A member of the Walters Prize-winning Mataoho Collective has been selected for a residency at the prestigious Setouchi Triennale in Japan in September.

Sarah Hudson | Māori Artist, Researcher, Collective-Member
She has been selected for an art residency in Japan and will head over there to join the Setouchi Triennale arts festival later this year. Hudson is the first New Zealander and wāhine Māori to be given this opportunity. Sarah is part of the Mataaoho Collective which one the big prize in Venice earlier this year.

Considered one of the highest accolades for art, the prestigious 60th Venice Biennale Golden Lion award has been won by New Zealand’s Mataaho Collective, comprising four wāhine Māori practitioners: Erena Arapere-Baker (Te Atiawa ki Whakarongotai, Ngāti Toa Rangātira), Sarah Hudson (Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Pūkeko), Bridget Reweti (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi) and Terri Te Tau (Rangitāne ki Wairarapa).
- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
