Rokirokitia digital kit captures korero from past
A project to save thousands of hours of amateur Māori sound and video recordings is being hailed as a major success.

As part of the project – called Rokirokitia - They built and donated 50 digitisation field kits to iwi/Māori groups all over Aotearoa New Zealand, trained non-professionals in the basics of archiving, and saved hundreds of videos, cassette tapes, CDs and DVDs containing local history and mātauranga Māori.
- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
