Waka raises mana of suppressed iwi
The discovery of a waka believed to more than 150 years old in the Pātea River has reignited a battle to have Te Pakakohi recognised as the ninth iwi of the Taranaki region.

- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
