Record number of Māori authors shortlisted
The list of the 2025 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards finalists has been announced, featuring a record number of books by Māori writers.

There are a record number of books by Māori writers longlisted in this year’s Ockham NZ Book Awards (9 across all categories).
- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
