A collective of four Māori women artists has won a prestigious Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale.

Considered one of the highest accolades for art, the prestigious 60th Venice Biennale Golden Lion award has been won by New Zealand’s Mataaho Collective, comprising four wāhine Māori practitioners: Erena Arapere-Baker (Te Atiawa ki Whakarongotai, Ngāti Toa Rangātira), Sarah Hudson (Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Pūkeko), Bridget Reweti (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi) and Terri Te Tau (Rangitāne ki Wairarapa).
- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
