Clinical trials chance for rare disease treatment
A general practitioner with a focus on rare diseases says Māori may want to consider participating in clinical trials if they can't afford unfunded medication.

Rare diseases affect approximately 8% (400 million) of people globally, and two million in Australia. For those living with rare disorders in New Zealand, treatment options are few, with less than a third of modern medicines registered in New Zealand being publicly funded.
- Radio Waatea is Auckland's only Māori radio station that provides an extensive bi-lingual broadcast to its listeners. Based at Nga Whare Waatea marae in Mangere, it is located in the middle of the biggest Māori population in Aotearoa.
