All Blacks captain Ardie Savea is heading to Auckland, signing with the Blues for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season in a major boost for the franchise.

Savea’s move follows the departure of Moana Pasifika from the competition, with the star loose forward acknowledging his former team while describing the opportunity to play for the Blues as something that has long been close to his heart.

The move will also see Savea return to a city he has previously called home. He says Auckland’s diversity provides an opportunity to use rugby to bring communities and cultures together, with his ambitions extending well beyond performances on the field.

Blues CEO Karl Budge says Savea brings world-class playing ability, leadership and personality at a time when the franchise is focused on strengthening its connection with Auckland.

For Savea, success with the Blues will not simply be measured by wins. He wants the team to become a force for bringing Auckland together through rugby, creating excitement and strengthening the relationship between the club and the communities it represents.

The signing represents a significant new chapter for both Savea and the Blues, with the All Blacks skipper set to link up with the squad later this year ahead of the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season.
