The Black Ferns have produced an emphatic 66-14 victory over Scotland in Edinburgh, continuing their strong start to the new WXV Global Series.
New Zealand piled on the points at Hive Stadium, running in ten tries as their speed, power and attacking depth eventually overwhelmed the Scottish defence. New Zealand Rugby has confirmed the 52-point victory as the Black Ferns’ second match of their European campaign.
The result follows New Zealand’s opening WXV encounter against France and provides another valuable Test as the Black Ferns build combinations and depth on the road towards the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Australia. New Zealand has already qualified for that tournament after reaching the semifinals of the 2025 World Cup.
The revamped WXV Global Series features the world’s 12 highest-ranked women’s teams playing cross-regional Tests, giving the Black Ferns regular international competition against some of the strongest sides in the game.
But the biggest examination of the European leg is still to come.
The Black Ferns now head to London where they will face world champions England at Allianz Stadium next weekend, a major test against one of their great international rivals. The match kicks off at 2am New Zealand time on Sunday, 27 September.
After putting 66 points on Scotland, New Zealand will head into that encounter with momentum firmly behind them.
