One person has died following a serious crash on Great Barrier Island.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mulberry Grove Road and Shoal Bay Road at around 12.20pm on Saturday.
Police say one person was found dead at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.
Local reporting indicates the crash involved a motorcycle and a passenger car towing a trailer, with the Serious Crash Unit helicoptered to the island from Auckland to examine the scene.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services and investigators worked in the area, with motorists advised to avoid the scene and expect delays.
Police enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
