There were 19,542 new community cases of Covid-19 reported today.
Health authorities also reported 24 deaths under a new approach in which the Ministry of Health will report all deaths in people who died within 28 days of being diagnosed with the virus.
Eight people died on Tuesday and the rest were historic cases from the past three weeks.
The average age of death was 79 and eight died at aged residential care facilities.
This takes the total number of publicly reported deaths in Aotearoa to date to 141.
