Flooding across parts of the North Island is creating hazardous conditions, with authorities warning drivers to take extreme care on the roads.
People are being urged not to drive through floodwaters, as conditions remain unpredictable and dangerous in affected areas.
Power outages have also been reported, with electricity restored in some while others remain without supply. Residents are being advised to check with their local energy provider for the latest updates if they are affected.
Radio Waatea will be sharing information on community support, including the locations of community centres and marae offering shelter for those in need.
In coastal areas, warnings remain in place to stay well clear of the water, with heavy swells and dangerous conditions expected to continue.
The message from authorities is clear – keep listening to the radio for updates, have a go bag ready, avoid driving through floodwaters, and check in on neighbours, friends and whānau.
