#hakinakina: Blues Snap Up Rising Star Sititi in Major Coup for Aupiki Future
The Blues have secured one of Aotearoa’s brightest young rugby prospects, signing teenage sensation Amarante Sititi for the 2026 Super Rugby Aupiki season.
At just 18, Sititi arrives with growing momentum after a standout debut year with the Auckland Storm in the Farah Palmer Cup, where she quickly established herself as a force in the loose forwards.
Her breakthrough campaign in 2025 saw her take out both Emerging Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for Auckland Rugby, underlining not only her on-field impact but the respect she commands within her team.
A dynamic loose forward, Sititi brings physicality, strong ball-carrying and defensive presence, primarily covering blindside flanker and number eight. Her playing style has drawn comparisons to her brother, All Blacks loose forward Wallace Sititi.
The young talent has already been recognised at national level, earning a New Zealand Rugby National Development Contract for 2026, signalling her place among the country’s most promising future stars.
Blues leadership says the signing reflects a clear focus on developing local talent and building depth for the future of women’s rugby.
Sititi’s rapid rise from school rugby at Auckland Girls Grammar to elite competition highlights both her potential and the strength of pathways emerging within the women’s game.
With her combination of athleticism, mindset and early success, the Blues are backing Sititi to grow into a key figure in their Aupiki campaign, as the competition continues to elevate the profile of women’s rugby across the country.
