#hakinakina: Moana Pasifika have suffered another heavy defeat
Moana Pasifika have suffered another heavy defeat in Super Rugby Pacific, beaten 39-19 by the Highlanders at North Harbour Stadium.
The Highlanders dominated large parts of the contest, building a strong lead early and maintaining control throughout the match in Auckland.
Moana Pasifika struggled to contain the Highlanders’ attacking pressure, with defensive lapses allowing the visitors to run in multiple tries and take command of the scoreboard.
Despite the result, Moana Pasifika showed some fight in the second half, crossing for three tries through Niko Jones, Mills Sanerivi and Allan Craig to reduce the margin.
The Highlanders’ composure and execution proved the difference, capitalising on key moments and keeping Moana Pasifika on the back foot for much of the game.
The loss continues a difficult run for Moana Pasifika this season, with the side sitting near the bottom of the Super Rugby Pacific standings and struggling to halt a string of defeats.
They will now look to regroup ahead of their next fixture, as pressure builds to turn performances into results.
