#hakinakina: Foran steps in as Sea Eagles coach after Seibold sacking
The Manly Sea Eagles have turned to club legend Kieran Foran to steady the ship, appointing him interim head coach for the rest of the 2026 NRL season.
The move follows the sudden sacking of Anthony Seibold, which came less than 24 hours after Manly’s 33-16 loss to the Sydney Roosters and just three games into a new contract that had been due to run through to 2027.
Foran, who retired from professional rugby league last year, steps into the role only months after joining the Sea Eagles coaching staff as an assistant.
The former Kiwi international is no stranger to the club, having played nine seasons in Manly colours across two stints and playing a key role in the club’s 2011 premiership-winning side.
He also brings experience from across the NRL, with playing stints at the Warriors, Eels, Bulldogs and Titans, before transitioning into media and coaching.
The appointment comes at a critical time for the Sea Eagles, who have opened the season with three straight losses and are searching for a turnaround.
Foran now faces the immediate challenge of lifting performance and restoring confidence within the squad as the club looks to get its season back on track.
