Police Seek Public Help After Serious Shooting in Onehunga
Tēnā koutou e te whānau, Auckland police are appealing to the public for information following a serious firearms incident in Onehunga this week.
Shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday, officers were called to a property on Arthur Street after reports that a person had been shot. Emergency services responded quickly and the injured person was taken to hospital, where they remain in a critical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Bunce says police believe this was a targeted incident, and at this stage there is no ongoing risk to the wider public. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and gather evidence, and the police presence in the area remains heightened as inquiries continue.
Police are urging anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from around Arthur Street around the time of the incident – or who saw anything unusual – to come forward.
