Māori TikTok Dad Louis Davis Crowned Aotearoa’s Creator of the Year
Māori content creator and father of three Louis Davis has been named New Zealand Creator of the Year at the 2025 TikTok Awards in Sydney, beating some of the biggest social media names in Aotearoa.
Davis, known on TikTok as @louisdavis_, has built an audience of more than two million followers with videos that celebrate whānau life, kaimoana and the moana. One of his most watched clips shows him tucking into kina alongside Hollywood star Jason Momoa, a moment that helped push his account into global feeds.
He describes himself simply as a husband, dad and ocean lover, and says the award belongs as much to his whānau and followers as it does to him.
The title was decided as part of the Australia and New Zealand TikTok Awards, voted on by the public. Davis came out on top ahead of other high profile nominees including popular podcast The Morning Shift and food creator Paris Nuku.
For many Māori viewers, his win is being seen as a big step in normalising every day Māori life, reo and humour on one of the world’s most powerful media platforms.
