#regionalnews Short Film Screening: Wait, Wait, Now
As part of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori events, Auckland Council is hosting a screening of Wait, Wait, Now!, a short film by Māori takatāpui filmmaker Ramon Te Wake.
That screening will also include kōrero with the filmmaker, and light kai and inu. It’s being held at the Auckland Central Library (Whare Wānanga) later in the week.

Come join us in the Whare Wānanga to honour the incredible storytelling in the short film Wait, Wait, Now! by the amazing Māori takatāpui filmmaker Ramon Te Wake.
Wait, Wait, Now! was selected for the prestigious #FiveFilmsForFreedom Festival 2025 presented in partnership with British Council and BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
Film screening will be followed by kōrero with the filmmaker Ramon and then light kai and inu.
Film synopsis
When best friends Alex and Sam are left at home for the night, they do what all teenage boys do: raid mum’s wardrobe, play dress ups, and create a fantasy world where they feel safe and accepted. Well, maybe that’s just what some boys do. But little do they know, the parents are on to them. Is there a safe bubble about to burst?
