Wellington’s Kahukura Ahau (Ngāti Porou) has been named Subway’s biggest fan, winning $10,000 at the chain’s global 60th birthday celebrations. Instead of keeping the prize, Kahukura, who is living with a terminal illness- has pledged to donate the entire sum to Kura Kai, a charity providing meals for rangatahi and their whānau. Their act of generosity is inspired by a desire to leave a legacy of community care for their 13-year-old twins.
