Editorial: Hobsons Pledge has gone way too far this time

What has happened the last 24 hours is shameful – in fact its disgusting. A political right wing organisation who took out Billboard ads depicting one of our Kuia apparently endorsing their politically motivated message against Maori Wards. The story has been evolving over the last 12 hours because, in the end, the Kuia involved did not endorse such a message and instead this political organisation claim they found it online at an image library and therefore had the right, by license, to use it. I say no. They did not and its about time all sides of politics condemned them, especially the right where they occupy space – and no this is not about cancel culture or being woke this is an organisation who tramples on the mana of a person who espouses all that is right about Aotearoa New Zealand – whereas this lot are all thats wrong. Hobson Pledge? should be consigned to the gutter os history and those that support them should hang their head in collective shame. For the record? Our Mana in no way needs you …..
