the wet weather has continued to batter Aotearoa with reports of flooding in Taranaki – including a bus having to pulled from water. In the South Island Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough are in a state of emergency for the next seven days. State Highway 3 at Awakino Gorge remained closed overnight.
An active front moved eastwards across Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne on Thursday night and on this morning bringing heavy rain, with thunderstorms and localised downpours possible.
Warnings are in force for heavy rain. Wellingto and Auckland experienced high winds over night and on Thursday.
