Bookstore Owner Discovers Racial Vandalism Targeting Books by Māori Women

In Kirikiriroa, a frustrated bookstore owner is speaking out after a troubling series of ripping up book covers book targeting biographies of prominent Māori women.
Nichola Carter, owner of Pennys’ Bookstore, has reported a man deliberately damaging the books of athletes and public figures like Ruby Tui, Honey Hireme-Smiler, and Jenny-May Clarkson during multiple visits.
Carter suspects these acts may be racially motivated, saying It’s disrespectful with no regard for her store or these women. She also expresses concern that the vandal might strike at other locations.
