Toitū Te Tiriti Leader: Aotearoa Has the Power to Influence Change
Toitū Te Tiriti leader Eru Kapa-Kingi says New Zealand has shown its power to influence change as the Treaty Principles Bill was buried at its second reading.
The Bill drew a record 300,000 written submissions—90% opposed.
Kapa-Kingi says the Indigenous world is watching, so it’s vital to stay alert for future amendment bills that remove Treaty principles.
He says the fight isn’t over, and the focus must remain on upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
“For our future, for our Hawaikii, and that’s where our movement’s heading. We’re going to keep this energy up and keep it going and moving through the generations to come.
