Luxon: Parents responsible for school lunches
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says parents are responsible for providing school lunches amid ongoing issues with food supply and quality.
This week, the Ministry for Primary Industries launched a food safety investigation into kai served at Murchison School after plastic packaging was found melted into the food.
Luxon says he has spoken with Associate Education Minister David Seymour about the challenges but insists parents should prepare their own kai if they are unhappy with school lunches.
“If you don’t like the food, ultimately you can make a marmite sandwich and put an apple in a lunch bag. As I’ve said before, it’s how we all went to school with our own lunches in the day,” says Luxon.
