National Māori Touch Tournament moves to Rotorua
The National Māori Touch Tournament has announced a new home following the weekend’s rangatahi tournament in Hamilton.
Yesterday, Māori Touch NZ confirmed a partnership with Rotorua Lakes Council, Rotorua NZ, and Te Arawa Iwi to host the national tournament at Rotorua International Stadium from this year until 2027.
Māori All Stars co-captain Takoha Ropati says the youth tournament provides young players with a pathway to reach the highest levels of Māori touch, including opportunities to perform at the NRL All Stars weekend or the national tournament.
He says if the senior generation sets a strong example, it will pave the way for the success of tamariki and mokopuna.
The National Tournament will be held on September 6 and 7, 2025.
