Lydia Ko wins Supreme Halberg over Carrington
Golf superstar Lydia Ko won the Supreme Halberg and Sportswoman of the Year awards, beating New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian, Lisa Carrington.
Last night’s 62nd annual awards ceremony in Auckland focused mainly on Olympic athletes, following last year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
This is Ko’s second Supreme Award, her first being in 2013, and her fourth Sportswoman of the Year award, her first since 2015.
Despite missing out on the Supreme and Sportswoman of the Year awards, Carrington, her Women’s K4 500 gold medal-winning team, and her coach, Gordon Walker, won Team of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
