Treaty Principles Bill oral submissions begin Auckland Anniversary
Public submitters will soon have the opportunity to present their views on the Treaty Principles Bill, with oral submissions set to begin on January 27.
Announced last night, the Justice Select Committee has scheduled 80 hours of oral submissions.
Organizations will have 10 minutes to present, while individuals will have 5 minutes.
During the first week, the committee will nominate specific submitters to speak.
The committee will then split into two subcommittees to hear from those selected.
The first subcommittee includes:
- James Meager (Chair)
- Tamatha Paul (Deputy Chair)
- Todd Stephenson
- Hon Ginny Andersen
- Paolo Garcia
- Dr Tracey McLellan
The second subcommittee includes:
- Hon Dr Duncan Webb (Chair)
- Jamie Arbuckle (Deputy Chair)
- Tākuta Ferris
- Cameron Brewer
- Rima Nakhle
Although the total number of submissions was expected to be announced yesterday, it is still being finalized.
Officials are processing submissions, checking for duplicates, adhering to submission criteria, and removing inappropriate submissions including racist content.
