Pathway opens for international doctors in NZ
Internationally trained doctors in New Zealand are finally seeing a pathway to employment, addressing critical gaps in the healthcare system.
Yesterday, Health Minister Dr Shane Reti announced a tripling of spots for the New Zealand Registration Examination (NZREX) in 2025, increasing opportunities for these doctors to practice.
Reti stated that some doctors have been left driving taxis instead of helping patients, and these changes are great news for our health system.
The Medical Council and Health New Zealand are now collaborating to secure exam placements and clinical roles, ensuring these skilled professionals can contribute as soon as possible.
