Puke Ariki Museum in New Plymouth is hosting two new exhibitions that honor Māori culture and kapa haka.
Wawata pays tribute to Dalvanius Prime, the legendary musician behind “Poi E,” featuring his personal items and a film by his nephew that highlights his influence on Māori music and social justice.
Meanwhile, Te Whatu Pareārohi – The Shimmering Braid showcases the impact of kapa haka on wellbeing, with traditional and modern performances and interactive displays.
These exhibitions, which lead up to Te Matatini 2025, will run until July 13, 2025.
