Mayor Tory Whanau says she welcomes the Crown Observer as a new beginning.

At a press conference yesterday, Whanau acknowledged the reasoning behind the Minister’s decision and is working with councillors to come up with a solution.

Whanau says this is an opportunity for councillors to put past grievances behind them and deliver social and infrastructure projects Wellington desperately needs.

“For me, that means protecting our social housing, continued funding for water and key climate initiatives. I will continue to work collaboratively in the coming weeks to put forward an amendment long-term plan proposal that offers certainty for Wellingtonians. We can, and we will deliver the best outcomes for Wellington City,” says Whanau.
