Broughton joins Kiwi Ferns after broken back

Gayle Broughton, from Ngāruahine and Ngāti Ruanui, was named to the Kiwi Ferns team this week, despite suffering a serious back injury four months ago.
In June, surgeons repaired Broughton’s back, and her speedy recovery allowed her to finish the NRLW season with the Broncos.
Broughton says she is fulfilling one of her childhood dreams by representing her iwi and her family.
She and the Kiwi Ferns will play in the Pacific Cup, with the first game on October 27 against Australia in Christchurch.
